COVID 19 Expatriation of Indians: Why Aarogya Setu App is Compulsory?

The Aarogya Su app is a mobile tracking application developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Goveternment of India, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Launched in April, its primary objectives are to raise awareness about COVID-19 and facilitate access to health services. The app quickly gained popularity, surpassing five million downloads within three days of its launch, becoming one of India's fastest-growing government apps.

The Government of India has mandated the use of the Aarogya Setu app for all employees, requiring them to review their health status before leaving for work, college, or home. Additionally, it is compulsory for international travelers returning to India to download the app. This measure aids in medical screening upon arrival, enabling authorities to monitor the health status of individuals entering the country. By utilizing the app, the medical team can assess the risk of COVID-19 exposure, particularly for those who have been in close proximity to infected individuals. Furthermore, individuals residing in containment zones are required to have the Aarogya Setu app installed on their mobile devices, ensuring enhanced surveillance and monitoring within high-risk areas.
